EVENT

Centering on Stewardship

Our "Environmental Stewardship: Our Role and Responsibilities" event hosted a myriad of voices on the issue of good stewardship.  From one attendee's feedback: "That was possibly the most worthwhile 2 hours I have spent on Zoom since 2020."

QUOTE

The Lorax

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." - Dr. Seuss, The Lorax.  We can't wait for the Once-ler to stop before everything is decimated.  It truly is UP TO US, HERE, and NOW.

Mary Oliver quote

This excerpt was read at September's Call to Prayer / Meditation event, and simply needs to be shared here.  The depiction of our relationship with nature -- our interconnection, our interdependence -- comes through clearly and compellingly.

VIDEO

Call to Creation Care

This video was created by Joe Bonasia to invite all who need and love Florida's waters to help put into place a law for effective stewardship.

POEM

by Richard Eberhart, from "Ichetucknee" in Florida Poems

We can walk, swim, float in the clearest shallows.
Upon us the welling up of the source,
Around us the gift of the river, the way we must go.
Our bodies delight in the flow of original life.

PRAYER

of Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav (1772-1810)

Grant me the ability to be alone; may it be my custom to go outdoors each day among the trees and grass—among all growing things and there may I be alone, enter into prayer, to talk with the zone to whom I belong.
May I express there everything in my heart, and may all the foliage of the field—all grasses, trees, and plants— awake at my coming, to send the powers of their life into the words of my prayer so that my prayer and speech are made whole
through the life and spirit of all growing things, which are made as one by their transcendent Source.
May I then pour out the words of my heart before your Presence like water, O God, and lift up my hands to you in worship, on my behalf, and that of all of my children!
